So What is Acne?

It can be defined as a skin inflammation with the evidence of whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, pustules and cysts. It can also be looked at as one of the many skin disorders experienced in different stages of life e.g. during puberty whereas in some cases it is hereditary.

What causes acne?

No, it is not chocolate! It can be caused by clogging of skin pores where the oil glands are very active thus producing too much oil which clogs the skin pores and so resulting to a manifestation of pimples. It is also caused by bacterial infection on the skin. This causes pimples and if it goes deeper in the skin it forms a cyst.

What relationship are you ignoring?

Your diet and your face- the relationship you do not pay attention to.Acne is also caused by feeding on a bad diet. A unbalanced diet consisting of too much junk and processed food which when digested in the body produces a lot of fats, oils and sugars. When these are consumed in excess, they end being deposited on the skin surface thus manifesting what is on the inside of the body. This results to development of pimples. This is mainly because the skin is the largest organ of the body and is bound to be affected by any nutritional imbalances.

What are the basic treatments?

UNCLOGGING PORES

Making sure that the skin is thoroughly cleaned. One can use mild skin cleansers and toners that minimize the oil on the skin and at the same time that work well for your skin. One should avoid cleansers that aggravate the skin causing eruptions.

KILLING BACTERIA

This can be done by use of antibiotics. This helps because antibiotics will work through cleansing the body system to get rid of bacteria and thus working well to control acne.

DIET

One should be very careful in the diet they feed on. Consider a diet rich in vitamin A and E which are the two vitamins that POSITIVELY AFFECT YOUR SKIN. This is most important because we are what we eat. Also, the secretion of oils by our skins is majorly controlled by hormones. These are derived from what we eat. Therefore, Feeding in vegetables and avoiding junk foods will help rid the skin off acne and keep it healthy. Drinking a lot of water will help aid in clearing your face because the body system will be flushed and so it will not deposit waste oils on the skin that cause breakouts.

MEDICAL ATTENTION

Some acne is too prolonged and even to the extent of being painful. This class of acne should get medical attention from a dermatologist who is an expert in all the different types of acne. A dermatologist will advise accordingly on how to take care of the skin so as to get rid of it.

HERBAL AND HOMEMADE TREATMENT

With every product going herbal in order to sound more effective, one can also use herbs and homemade concoctions to take care of an acne infected skin. One can use herbs such as Aloe Vera plant. One can also create a mixture of cucumbers and carrots mashed together and extract their juice and use it as an acne treatment by applying on the acne infected areas. The journey to overcoming acne is not an overnight achievement. One should be patient enough and wait for result from 4weeks to 3 months.

Derived from the Greek word p??ntothen, meaning from all quarters, this B Vitamin is indeed a do everything, be everywhere nutrient. It is part of the chemical makeup of Coenzyme A. It is also known in other forms – Calcium Pantothenate and Panthenol.

It has become increasingly popular as a nutritional supplement, widely used for its abilities to boost energy, increase athletic performance, alleviate arthritis, restore color and luster to hair and, in general, rejuvenate. Deficiencies in humans can result in abdominal distress, vomiting, cramps, burning pain in the heels, burning feet syndrome, fatigue, insomnia. Signs of reduced immunity to some infectious agents have also been noted in pantothenate deficiency.

Some scientists believe Vitamin B5 can also prevent aging. Tests prove that getting an adequate amount of vitamin B5 into the body can stop the growth of wrinkles. For teenagers, Vitamin B5 can help STOP serious oil gland production, which means no acne.

The below extract is from research performed by Lit-Hung Leung, M.D, where Vitamin B5 was used to treat acne.

One hundred patients of Chinese descent were included in the study, 45 males and 55 females. The age ranged from 10 to 30, and with about 80% between 13 and 23. The severity of the disease process varied. They were given 10 grams of pantothenic acid a day in four divided doses. There is a noticeable decrease in sebum secretion (skin oil) on the face usually 2-3 days after initiation of therapy. The face becomes less oily. After two weeks, existing lesions start to regress while the rate of eruption of new acne lesions begins to slow down. In cases with moderate severity, the condition is normally in complete control in about eight weeks, with most of the lesions gone and new lesions only to erupt occasionally.

Good sources of Vitamin B5 include the organ meats, brewers yeast, egg yolks, fish, chicken, whole grain cereals, cheese, peanuts, dried beans, and a variety of vegetables, such as sweet potatoes, green peas, cauliflower, and avocados. SkinB5s combination of Vitamin B5, Zinc, Vitamin A and Biotin will give you serious results in treating acne and wrinkles./pbr

Acne can be treated with any number of therapies; sufferers have long gone in search of the miracle remedy that will release them from the effects of recurring acne. Cleansing regimes, medications, surgical procedures, and a host of over-the-counter topical creams bombard acne patients on a daily basis. But much of the success in curing acne comes from comprehensive care of the body from the inside out.

Studies have shown that dietary changes dramatically impact the look and health of the skin. But just as significant is the use of vitamins for acne treatment. Much of the reason that introducing natural, healthy foods into the diet reduces acne is because these foods address existing vitamin deficiencies within the body.

Vitamins for acne control garner noteworthy success for many acne sufferers. Acne is often an outward sign of internal conflict. Your body is literally crying out for what it needs. The implementation of a consistent program to introduce vitamins for acne treatment can dramatically increase your chances of defeating acne.

First in the list is Vitamin A – a natural inhibitor of excess oil and an innate antioxidant. Vitamin A can be found in a variety of foods such as carrots, green vegetables, oranges, and bananas.

Vitamin B – found in such foods as sweet potatoes, chickpeas, and green peppers – is a compilation of many different vitamins and also acts as an antioxidant.

Best known for fighting the common cold, Vitamin C increases immunity – which helps to eradicate acne. Found in citrus fruits, Vitamin C is an excellent component of your vitamins for acne treatment.

Vitamin E – the healing vitamin – does just that in its battle against acne. It helps to heal the skin and protect it from further outbreaks.

Getting essential vitamins from whole foods is the best way to implement your vitamins for acne treatment; this is the most natural and healthy way to proceed. Taking vitamin supplements can also be done, however, keep in mind that taking too much of any vitamin – in supplement form – can be dangerous.

Talk to your doctor about steps you can take to increase your consumption of essential vitamins. Vitamins for acne treatment will allow you a greater sense of control over your complexion and a tool you can use for a lifetime.

Vitamins for acne control are one of the most natural ways to approach the battle against acne. When you begin fueling your body with the things it needs the most, you will be rewarded with increased health and a clear and glowing complexion.

Author: Terry Roberts

The ways to achieve acne prevention may seem rather complicated at first, but they will, with time and perseverance, provide satisfying results. In simple, uncomplicated cases of acne, steps involving only topical medication will help to lessen its effect. At the start of puberty, the body goes through hormonal changes that can be controlled by various medications. The over-production of hormones is a trigger for more oil to be produced in the oil glands, which can result in acne.

The environment plays a huge role in the production of acne. Everyday stresses, and the atmosphere you expose your skin to, will be a large factor. Dirt and grime from traffic or workplaces can transfer onto the skin, thus clogging your pores and creating a breeding ground for acne. Thus, the first way in which acne prevention can be achieved is by cleaning the skin regularly. Keeping the skin clean helps to create a healthy epidermis and stops the outbreak of acne by clearing the pores of oil and grime. On the other hand, over-washing can cause the production of excess oil in the glands, in turn causing more skin problems to develop.

Secondly, sleeping at least eight hours is recommended for your skin’s health. A well-rested body can help fight bacteria that are developing on the skin. Sleep can help to combat any environmental stresses placed on the skin as well. On a more general note, maintaining a regular schedule is beneficial for all aspects of a healthier body.

Perhaps the most important element in acne prevention, after keeping your skin clean, is a balanced, but supplemented diet. Daily consumption of vitamins contributes to providing a nutrient-enriched base to build healthy cells for glowing skin. Vitamin A, for example, is found in fish, liver, in yellow, orange and green vegetables and in dairy products, and provides the body with Beta-carotene, which helps the skin to heal and dry up the damage caused by acne. Taking a prescribed antibiotic called Retin-A, containing Vitamin A, causes a slight skin-peeling effect to slough off dead skin cells and to encourage a healthy layer of skin to form. Taking Vitamin B-2 can also help to relieve stress, thus promoting fewer components that contribute to acne-prone skin. Zinc has been proven to boost the immune system to improve overall health. Finally, antioxidants in the vitamin E contained in almonds, broccoli and wheat germ will help to fight off free radicals, which can in turn damage the body’s metabolism, ensuring the best possible outcome for clearer skin.

With so many factors playing into the task of clear and healthy skin, it may seem overwhelming to keep the skin clean and clear. With a little effort and good overall health practices, acne can be managed in mild to moderately severe cases. As acne is felt to be a rite of passage through puberty into adulthood, many people fail to understand that it can also cause additional social embarrassment and unneeded stresses. Following some proven practices for reducing the complications of acne may help to lessen the effects of a largely controllable situation. Acne prevention does require constant attention but is well worth the effort, no matter what your age.
